In a bid to boost exports, the Nigerian Ports Authority has partnered with the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas to provide the operational collaboration necessary to grow exports.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, when he received the Chief Executive Officer of the NLNG Limited, Dr. Phillip Mshelbila, at NPA’s Headquarters in Marina.
Speaking during the visit on behalf of NLNG, Dr Mshelbila expressed appreciation for the NPA’s continued support. He also solicited an increased synergy as NLNG Limited is expanding its “LNG production capacity to take advantage of increased global demand.”
In his response, Dr. Dantsoho said, “Imbued by the mandate of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for the NPA to support the increased export orientation of the Federal Government, we assure you of our unwavering support.”
According to him, “the NLNG has played a key role in Nigeria’s economic development and export growth since inception. We will grow this partnership.”
Nigeria’s attainment of a trade surplus of N5.81tn (or $3.7bn) in the third quarter of 2024, as reported by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group foreign trade alert, was through exports predominantly consummated on the platforms of the NPA.
