The Ogun State Government has said that it is making effort to harmonise taxes and levies to reduce double taxation that may affect the revenue base of businesses.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Adebola Sofela, addressed the harmonisation of taxes during his visit to Nestle Nigeria headquartered in Lagos.
Sofela, received alongside top management staff of the ministry by Nestle’s Managing Director, Wassim Elhusseini, said the Dapo Abiodun-led government sought to collaborate with shareholders and exchange ideas on areas of common interest.
He said the state government was committed to capacity building at all levels and upgrading Ogun State Technical schools so companies have no gap in power to fill the technical needs.
The commissioner added that the present administration in Ogun State had improved the land administration system to enable investors to get title documents without delay to leverage for financing,
According to Sofela, the government is creating new industrial clusters to handle the influx of investors and prepare for the future.
Sofela appealed to the various companies across the three senatorial districts of the State to consider the qualified residents of Ogun State for employment as part of efforts to promote their relationship with host communities.
“We are working to ensure harmonisation of taxes and levies to reduce the incidence of double taxation.
“The governor is particularly interested in creating an enabling environment for business to thrive considering the government’s huge investment in security and infrastructure,” he said.
The MD, Elhusseini remarked that 80 per cent of Nestle Nigeria’s investment is domiciled in Ogun State and gave his policies which he described as being in the right direction and business-friendly policies.
