Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu will hope to score his 10th league goal of the season when Trabzonspor host Sivasspor in a matchday 32 fixture of the Turkish Super Lig at Papara Park on Friday (today), Primanews Sports Extra reports.
Onuachu last scored for the Turkish side in November 2023 after helping the Black Sea Storm to a 2-1 win over Samsunspor on matchday 16.
The lanky striker has missed 10 of the 12 fixtures since then owing to injury and international duty with Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where the Super Eagles finished second after losing 2-1 to the host nation in the final.
He registered neither a goal nor an assist in the games he played for the Turkish club after returning from the AFCON before suffering an injury that ruled him out for one and a half months.
After sitting out the entire month of March, the 29-year-old, who returned to full training following a successful surgery, is now expected to return to the pitch against Sivasspor at BG Group 4 Eylül Stadyumu.
Onuachu was in fine form in the first half of the season, scoring nine league goals and registering three assists before joining Nigeria for AFCON duty.
With the injury now behind him, the striker will hope to reignite his form but must first end his three-match scoreless streak.
