Nigerian female boxer Ayisat Oriyomi will face Kazakhstan’s Angelina Lukas in a World Boxing Association flyweight title elimination bout on January 31 in Moscow, Russia, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The former national female flyweight champion declared her readiness for the crucial encounter in a video posted on Fight Gist Media’s Instagram page on Monday.

“Ready for war,” Oriyomi stated, showing her determination to extend her winning streak in her professional career.

The bout represents a significant opportunity for Oriyomi to get her tenth straight win on the bounce.

The Nigerian has spectacularly begun her professional career, racing to an impressive 9-0 record with six knockouts, establishing herself as one of the country’s most promising female boxers.

Her rise to prominence hit a temporary snag in August 2024 when a scheduled bout in France against Clothilde Del Ben had to be postponed due to visa processing delays amid the Paris Olympics.

At that time, Oriyomi had expressed disappointment but remained optimistic, saying, “Fighting in France was a dream come true.

“I have trained hard for this moment, and I am disappointed by the delay, but I remain focused and prepared for when the opportunity arises.”

The upcoming elimination bout against Lukas now presents Oriyomi with a chance to silence her critics and potentially earn a shot at the WBA world flyweight title.

A victory in Moscow would not only cement her reputation but also position her as a legitimate contender in the flyweight division, potentially setting up a world title fight later in the year.

The winner of this elimination bout is expected to challenge for the WBA flyweight world title within 90 days, according to WBA regulations.
