The Oyo State Government has converted 1,591 ad hoc local council workers across the state into permanent staff.

He added that appointment letters of the converted workers will be ready for collection from Monday, February 3 to Thursday, February 6, 2025

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, who made the disclosure on Friday, said the appointments were in fulfilment of Governor Seyi Makinde’s promise.

Recall that the governor had approved the conversion of ad hoc staff in the service of the 33 local government councils in the state to permanent staff in October last year to bridge the gap in the workforce at the local government level.

The commissioner noted that due process for the employment was followed effectively and perfected.

Ojo, however, cautioned that collection of appointment letters by proxy is strictly prohibited and wished successful candidates success in their new roles.

He said, “All successful applicants are to collect their appointment letters at the Local Government Service Commission between 10:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m daily.

“Those in the cadre of Administrative Officer, Agricultural Officer, Data Processing Officer, Engineering, Building, and Quantity Surveyor, Estate Valuation Officer, Environmental Health Officer, Information Officer, and Land Surveyor are expected to collect their appointment letters on Monday, February 3, 2025.

“Additionally, those in the cadre of Clerical Officer are to collect their letters on Tuesday, 4th February 2025, while those in the cadre of Messenger and Cleaner are to collect their letters on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

“Also, those in the cadre of driver/mechanics, articulated vehicle drivers and watchmen are to collect their appointment letters on Thursday, February 6, 2025.”
