A former governorship aspirant of the Labour Party in Anambra State, Valentine Ozigbo, has joined the All Progressive Congress.

Ozigbo joined the APC on Thursday at his ward in Amesi area of the state, 24 hours after resigning from the LP.

PUNCH Online reports that Ozigbo, who is aspiring to contest the Anambra governorship election, on Wednesday, resigned his membership from the LP.

In a statement he personally signed, Ozigbo said his decision to quit the party is in line with his “unwavering commitment” to the greater vision for the state.

He added that the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was duly informed of his decision as a mark of his deep respect for his leadership and the principles they have shared on this journey.

The politician asserted that he joined politics not for personal ambition but because he believe in the boundless potential of the people.

Ozigbo, an ally of Obi, also contested the state governorship election in 2021 under the Peoples Democratic Party and lost to Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

The governorship election in Anambra has been fixed for November by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
