The Project Management Institute has unveiled ‘The Shift Code’, a new podcast series that delves into the intersection of leadership, change management, and real-world project impact.

Hosted by PMI President and Chief Executive Officer Pierre Le Manh, the podcast would feature candid discussions with top executives across industries such as aerospace, technology, and agriculture.

According to PMI, the first season kicks off with Steve Altemus, CEO of Intuitive Machines, a pioneer in commercial lunar exploration. His company made history in February 2024 by becoming the first commercial entity to successfully soft-land a spacecraft on the Moon. This week, Intuitive Machines completed the launch of its IM-2 mission lunar lander, Athena, furthering its mission to support NASA’s lunar exploration goals.

During the podcast, Altemus discussed groundbreaking advancements in aerospace technology and how project management is crucial in accelerating space exploration.

He emphasised the importance of lean and efficient work strategies.

“We have had a set of tenets that said, ‘Set arbitrary and inflexible milestones and meet those to drive the team toward a resolution of problems,’” he explained.

PMI CEO Le Manh echoed these sentiments, highlighting the role of constraints in driving innovation.

“Forced innovation is what happens when you take on that insurmountable challenge,” he said.

Upcoming episodes will feature a diverse lineup of industry leaders, each providing insights into how project management drives transformation. Robert C. Wolcott, Co-Founder and Chair of the World Innovation Network, will explore adaptability and innovation. Miishe Addy, CEO of Jetstream Africa, will discuss logistics improvements in West Africa, while Simon Molnar, CEO of Flagship, will examine digital transformation in retail.

Also, the podcast will also feature Vihari Kanukollu, CEO of UrbanKisaan, who will share insights into scaling sustainable urban farming, and Julissa Mateo Abad, founder of STEMERIA, who will discuss empowering women in technology.

“When you are breaking new ground, people want to know the formula,” Le Manh stated.

“In The Shift Code, we’re bringing in the doers, the disruptors—the ones making things happen. These conversations show how project management drives real innovation, solves impossible problems, and moves humanity forward,” he stated.

With its compelling lineup and focus on actionable insights, The Shift Code promises to be a valuable resource for leaders and professionals navigating today’s complex project landscape.
