EntertainmentPolice arrest alleged handlers of Gistlover blog for cyberstalking

The Nigeria Police Force says it has apprehended three men suspected to be the handlers of the popular microblogging platform, Gistlover blog, for cyberstalking.
The arrested suspects are Adebukola Kolapo (27) Nnedum Somtomchukwu (25) and Isaac Akpokighe (30).
While parading them at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the Force Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, stated that they were arrested following a petition by one Dr and Mrs Seye Oladejo.
He said, “Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center, acting on a petition at the instance of Dr and Mrs Seye Oladejo have arrested three suspects in connection with a case of conspiracy, cyberstalking, and threat to life.
“The suspects are members of a syndicate called ‘Gistlover family’, which is responsible for the daily running of Gistlover blog, a microblogging platform known for cyberstalking, incitement, blackmail, and sundry, which has over the years been a course for public outcry.
“Upon arrest, the suspects revealed their various degrees of involvement in the conspiracy, corroborating the already available overwhelming evidence.
“The first suspect, Kolapo, aka Omo Oba Gistlover, was responsible for the creation of over 80 per cent of the Gistlover pages, thereby lending his digital footprint for the perpetration of the aforementioned criminal act.
“Being on the payroll of the said platform and having enjoyed incentives such as car gifts and monies, Adebukola was saddled with the responsibility of scouting, editing and captioning contents, including the cyberstalking post made against the complainant. Adebukola has also contributed in laundering monies gotten (sic) from the illegal scheme through various means.
“In more developments, digital forensic analysis led to the recovery of eight Gistlover pages, which were created by Adebukola, on the instruction of the head of the syndicate, and wallet addresses used in laundering those monies.”
