The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, has on Tuesday confirmed the abduction of four students of Federal University Dutsima who bandits kidnapped on Sunday morning.

DSP Sadiq told our correspondent that out of the four kidnapped students, one was rescued by the persistent effects of the security operatives in the area.

“Yes, four of them were kidnapped, but our men’s persistent efforts rescued one. At the same time, efforts are being intensified to rescue the remaining three,” according to Sadiq.

Bandits reportedly kidnapped four students of the Federal University, Dutsinma, Katsina State on Sunday.

The report has it that the hoodlums, in their large numbers, armed with sophisticated weapons such as AK-47 rifles, invaded the student’s quarters, Paris Quarters, behind the university building on Sunday at about 2:20 am and whisked away the victims.

It was, however, gathered that security operatives were immediately mobilised to the scene after receiving a distress call, but the hoodlums had already fled with the students into the bush.

Dutsinma local government area of Katsina State is one of the security frontline areas of the State, bedevilling with bandits’ activities, among other crimes, despite State and federal government interventions to restore peace in the area.
