Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested a suspected kidnapper and organ harvester in the Douglas area of Imo State.

The suspect, identified as Justine Emmanuel, a 38-year-old man from Amimo in Ikeduru Local Government Area, was apprehended during a rescue operation.

The police also rescued a 19-year-old lady, whose identity has been withheld for privacy reasons.

In a statement on Saturday, the police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, revealed that the arrest followed a swift response by officers on patrol, who observed suspicious activity involving a blue and white bus.

The operatives noticed the suspects forcefully attempting to take the young lady to an undisclosed location, where they allegedly planned to kill her and harvest her organs.

“During the chase, the victim courageously jumped from the moving bus and was rescued by our operatives.

“The police gave chase, prompting the suspects to abandon the vehicle. While one suspect was arrested, others fled into the nearby bush,” Okoye said.

The command has launched further investigations to track down the remaining members of the syndicate and uncover the full extent of their criminal activities.

Okoye reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling violent crime and ensuring the community’s safety.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the authorities.
