The Katsina State Police Command, in collaboration with the military, the Department of State Services, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and the vigilantes, have killed five bandits in the Dandume Local Government Area of the state.

This is contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer DSP Abubakar Sadiq and made available to newsmen on Friday in Katsina.

Sadiq said three suspected informants of the bandits, who provided them with information and logistical support, were arrested, and two operational motorcycles and two bicycles were also recovered during the operation.

The statement read, “On April 10, 2025, at about 04:15 hours, based on credible intelligence, the DPO Dandume Division led a team of joint operatives to a suspected bandit’s route at Dutsen Wori village, Dandume LGA, Katsina State.

“In a daring operation, the joint security team successfully ambushed a group of suspected armed bandits along the route. The ambush resulted in the neutralisation of five suspected armed bandits.

“Similarly, on the same date at about 7:00 hours, based on information received from the Department of State Service on suspected armed bandit activities at Unguwar Adam and Unguwar Judo villages, Danmusa LGA, the DPO Danmusa quickly mobilised and led a joint team of police operatives, Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes to the scene.

“A gun duel ensued, which resulted in the dislodging of the bandit’s hideout. Efforts are being intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspects.”

Sadiq noted that the Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, commended the high level of professionalism, synergy and dedication to duty exhibited by the joint security team.
