Chairman of SIFAX Group, Dr Taiwo Afolabi, has donated a fully equipped building to his alma mater, Baptist Grammar School, Idi-Ishin, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The new facility includes a mini-conference room, staff toilets, a Home Economics laboratory, and accommodation for corps members deployed to the school.

A statement by Sifax Group on Thursday said that the building was officially commissioned on Thursday, 14th September 2024, in a ceremony attended by members of the Baptist Grammar School Idi-Ishin Old Students Association, the school’s teaching and non-teaching staff, representatives from the Oyo State Ministry of Education, students, and a delegation from SIFAX Group.

Speaking at the event,  Afolabi, who was represented by the Group Coordinating Director at SIFAX Group, Mrs Wunmi Eniola-Jegede, emphasised the importance of giving back and investing in the next generation.

“Education is the foundation of any prosperous society. Every great society is built on the dreams and aspirations of young people dreams that need nurturing and a conducive environment to thrive.

“By providing this facility, we are creating a space where future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers can be shaped, influenced, and developed,” Afolabi said.

He further explained that the facility was designed not just for learning, but also to inspire students to dream big and aim for a brighter future.

“My commitment to this project goes beyond building infrastructure; it’s about hope and impact. It’s about ensuring that no child feels limited by their circumstances and giving back to a community that gave so much to me,” he stated.

The principal of the school, Mr Eyitayo Bamidele, described the donation as a “timely and valuable contribution” and referred to the new building as a “utility building” that would support both the staff and students.

He expressed his gratitude to Afolabi and SIFAX Group for their unwavering support throughout the project.

“When I first proposed the idea of donating a building to the school, Dr. Afolabi was immediately receptive and began funding the project right away,” he said.

President of the Baptist Grammar School Idi-Ishin Old Students Association, Mrs Jaiyeola Lewis, also praised the development and encouraged other alumni to continue supporting improvements to the school’s facilities.

“While government efforts are commendable, we must recognize that the government cannot do it alone.

“The building is now fully operational and will be utilised immediately. Plans are in place for ongoing support and maintenance to ensure the facility’s longevity and effectiveness,” she remarked.

This initiative aligns with SIFAX Group’s commitment to community development and corporate social responsibility, reinforcing the company’s dedication to creating a sustainable impact in education and beyond.
