Stakeholders to examine Africa’s digital future at summit

Stakeholders would be converging at GITEX Africa 2024, the continent’s largest tech and start-up event, to explore the latest innovations and advancements in Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud, Internet of Things, finance, telecoms, agriculture, education, and healthcare, for Africa’s digital transformation.
Organisers of the summit said in a statement that the event would kick off from May 29–31, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco, bringing together 1,400 international exhibitors, 700 start-ups, and 350 investors from 130 countries to shape the future of Africa’s digital economy.
It stated that the three-day event, which would be held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
“World Future Health Africa, a new feature at GITEX Africa 2024, will accelerate the continent’s digital health revolution, while the Africa digital summit will gather 450-plus speakers from 70 countries to debate and tackle the greatest tech challenges and opportunities in Africa’s digital journey,” it stated.
According to organisers, the event will also feature 10 conference stages with 280+ hours of content advancing Africa’s digital movement, making it the ideal platform for innovation, investment, and collaboration to transform Africa’s digital landscape.
It added that as Africa’s largest tech and start-up event, GITEX AFRICA 2024 was set to supercharge the continent’s entrepreneurial innovation economy, shaping a prosperous digital future for generations to come.
Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Ghita Mezzour, said in a press conference that the second edition of GITEX AFRICA Morocco aligned with the country’s ongoing efforts to advance digital transformation, as directed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The minister highlighted the potential of digital transition to drive development in African countries and emphasised that the event would reinforce Morocco’s position as a regional digital hub, fostering an environment that attracts investments and creates jobs.
“This edition will further consolidate Morocco’s position as a regional digital hub, thus creating an environment conducive to attracting more investments and stimulating job creation,” Mezzour remarked.
According to the General Director of ADD, Sidi Melyani, the second edition of GITEX AFRICA Morocco is more comprehensive and ambitious, building on the global enthusiasm generated by the previous edition.
He claimed that the event solidified Morocco’s position as a leading hub for technological innovation and attracted foreign investment to the thriving digital sector.
