Beaconhealth Diagnostics, a subsidiary of the Nigerian healthtech startup MDaaS Global, is expanding its footprints to other parts of the country to provide access to affordable, high-quality healthcare.
This development comes after a successful $3m pre-series A funding secured earlier this year.
The startup said in a note to The PRIMANEWS that it had opened two new centres in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, and Port Harcourt, Rivers State, bringing its national footprint to 13 standalone centres across 10 states.
BeaconHealth also has an affiliate network of six locations across five states.
The company declared that it would use the money to finance investments in state-of-the-art technologies, broaden its scope of services, and improve its operational efficiency.
Access to quality and affordable healthcare is a national issue affecting millions of Nigerians.
About six out of 10 Nigerians lack access to quality primary healthcare services, according to the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency.
This means only 43 per cent of Nigerians have access to quality PHC services, a situation that is worsening disease outbreaks and out-of-pocket expenditure.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation acknowledged that there was a significant urban-rural divide in the distribution of healthcare resources in Nigeria, with the majority concentrated in urban centres.
By increasing access to high-quality diagnostics, BeaconHealth said it was empowering Nigerians to take a more proactive approach to their health and well-being.
The Head of Business Development, BeaconHealth Diagnostics, Demola Fayomi, said, “We are thrilled to bring BeaconHealth’s high-quality diagnostic services to the cities of Ado-Ekiti and Port Harcourt.
“These new centres reflect our unwavering commitment to expanding access to affordable and reliable healthcare throughout Nigeria. By bringing our services closer to residents, we aim to address the growing demand for accessible diagnostics and aid individuals to live longer and healthier lives.”
The Chief Executive Officer at MDaaS Global, Oluwasoga Oni, remarked, “Our recent funding allows us to make a significant impact on the Nigerian healthcare landscape.
“By expanding BeaconHealth Diagnostics’ reach, we are committed to improving healthcare outcomes for the people in all the communities we serve.”
According to Oni, the firm believed that access to affordable and reliable diagnostics was fundamental to early detection, improved treatment plans, and ultimately, better health outcomes.
