Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has released a 55-man provisional squad for the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, taking place in Morocco.

Team captain William Ekong, striker Victor Osimhen, midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali are all on the list. Other well-known players such as Maduka Okoye, Zaidu Sanusi, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, Raphael Onyedika, Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Simon Moses and Chidera Ejuke also make the cut.

The squad includes several Nigeria Premier League players, including Abdulrasheed Shehu, Ebenezer Harcourt, Ekeson Okorie, Chisom Orji and Adekunle Adeleke.

There are also new faces like Ryan Alebiosu, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Usman Muhammed, Peter Agba, Chukwubuikem Ikwuemesi, Philip Otele, Salim Fago Lawal and Emmanuel Michael.

Some players return to the national team after a spell away, such as Francis Uzoho, Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Boniface, Nathan Tella and Igoh Ogbu.

A final squad of 28 players will be selected from the provisional list in the coming days.

The Super Eagles will gather in Egypt on Wednesday, 10 December, for a training camp. They will play friendly matches before the tournament kicks off on Sunday, 21 December. Nigeria has been placed in Group C with Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda.
