Tastee Fried Chicken through the Bunmi Adedayo Foundation has given scholarships to five primary school pupils and gifted cash prizes to the winners of the 2023 Tastee Spelling Bee competition.
The gifts were in commemoration of the 10th-year memorial anniversary of Oluwabunmi Adedayo, who died on September 25, 2013.
The foundation, established in honour of the late Adedayo, aimed at sponsoring the educational needs of children.
Pupils of Navy Primary School, Ojo who got the six-year scholarship from TFC were Obinali Munachi, Abah Zion, Nsor Jackson, Orogwu Leonard, and Marvis Oliver.
BAF also rewarded the three winners of the 2023 TFC spelling bee, including Micheal Ofeimun of Favourite Heights Private School; Taiwo Praise, and Janet Oseni of De-barms School with N250,000, N150,000 and N100,000, respectively for their astounding performances.
The Executive Chairman of Tastee Fried Chicken Limited and Patron of the Bunmi Adedayo Foundation, Mr Adekunle Adedayo, asserted that good education would help children.
“We established Bunmi Adedayo Foundation to give to the needy. We want all the children, especially the indigents and brilliant ones to have a comfort zone and to improve the learning outcomes in primary education.”
He also explained that BAF engaged in teachers’ training and empowerment.
Also, the Chief Operating Officer, Tastee Fried Chicken Limited, Fowoke Akinleye, said, “The annual Spelling Bee is a competition that was started by our late Executive Director, Oluwabunmi Adedayo. It was established to help children learn vocabulary, new words and also to make them bold.”
“We bring about fifty schools together for the spelling competition. The children meet new people, they learn new words, and they have fun.”
“The foundation was set up basically for education. We will continue to train teachers, give out scholarships, renovate schools, build computer rooms, build Information Communication Technology centres and libraries. There are lots of ongoing projects,” she said.
