President Bola Tinubu has appointed seven new ministers to his cabinet.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the presidency following the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

The statement read, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the immediate implementation of eight far-reaching actions to reinvigorate the administration’s capacity for optimal efficiency, pursuant to his commitment to deliver on his promises to Nigerians.”

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu was appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, while Jumoke Oduwole was named Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment.

This appointment is part of the much-anticipated cabinet reshuffle of Tinubu’s administration, which has been in office for over a year.

The President also nominated Maigari Dingyadi as the Minister of Labour and Employment, Idi Maiha as Minister for the newly created Livestock Development Ministry, and Yusuf Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, with Suwaiba Ahmad appointed as Minister of State for Education.

Ojukwu, widow of the late Biafra leader Odumegwu Ojukwu, was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011. In 2012, she became Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana and later served as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.

Until her nomination as minister, Oduwole served as Tinubu’s Special Adviser to the President on PEBEC & Investment.

Meanwhile, the President sacked Uju-Ken Ohanenye as Minister of Women’s Affairs; Lola Ade-John as Minister of Tourism; Tahir Mamman as Minister of Education; Abdullahi Gwarzo as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; and Jamila Ibrahim as Minister of Youth Development.

The President also reassigned ten ministers to new ministerial portfolios.
