Turkey’s stock exchange rose 0.46 percent, or 446.44 points, to open at 98,269.59 points on Wednesday.
Among all sector indices, the metal products and machinery index posted the best performance, up 1.35 percent, while the insurance index saw the worst, down 0.21 percent.Â
The BIST banking and holding sector indices rose 0.59 percent and 0.42 percent, respectively.Â
On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index closed at 97,823.15, down 1.44 percent, with a trade volume of 5.7 billion Turkish liras ($1.23 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 4.6060Â as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday. It was 4.6120 at Tuesday’s close.
The euro/lira exchange rate rose to 5.4080 by market open — down from 5.3810 at the previous close — and one British pound traded at 6.1695 Turkish liras versus 6.1430 at Tuesday’s close.
The price of Brent oil was $76.11 per barrel as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Wednesday, up from $75.38 at the previous close.
