A London court withdrew an arrest warrant for Benedikt Sobotka, chief executive officer of Eurasian Resources Group, whose unit ENRC is at the centre of an investigation into fraud, bribery and corruption on an acquisition of some mineral assets.

In July Britain’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO) issued an arrest warrant for Sobotka over his failure to appear for questioning in London on June 26.

In a statement on July 15, ERG said Sobotka had not turned up because he needed clarification on whether he was appearing in a personal capacity, which he agreed to do, or whether he would take part as a corporate representative of ERG in which case he would need ask for permission from the company’s board. The SFO, according to the statement, did not provide an answer.

A statement from ENRC on Thursday said the SFO wrote to Westminster Magistrates’ Court asking for the warrant to be withdrawn following Sobotka’s application to court. The court granted the withdrawal.

The SFO declined to comment as its investigation is ongoing.
