Wike has ordered revocation of 1,095 lands in FCT, affecting Ministers, Former Governors, and Key Institutions.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has revoked ownership of 1,095 properties in Abuja after the owners allegedly failed to pay required land charges. The decision, approved by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, was announced in a statement by the Department of Land Administration.

The enforcement followed a 14-day grace period that ended on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Of the affected properties, 835 owners failed to pay ground rent, while 260 did not complete land use conversion payments. The published list included plot numbers, districts, amounts owed, and the effective dates of revocation.

The FCTA emphasized that the action adhered to the Land Use Act and the terms governing Rights of Occupancy, noting that several notices had been issued via newspapers, online platforms, and television to urge property owners to settle their obligations.

Prominent individuals affected include former Chief of Army Staff Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma, former First Lady Patience Jonathan, former Senate President David Mark, former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido, Senator Ali Ndume, former PDP national chairman Abubakar Kawu Baraje, former Osun State deputy governor Senator Iyiola Omisore, Emir of Ilorin Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, elder statesmen Professor Bolaji Akinyemi and Tony Anenih, and former Minister of Petroleum Alison Madueke.

Other former governors on the list include Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Adeniyi Adebayo (Ekiti), Donald Duke (Cross River), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe), Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti), and Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Osun).

Key public officials and institutions affected include Minister of State for Industry John Owan Enoh, BUA International Limited, First Bank of Nigeria, Standard Trust Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Ecobank, Union Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Zenith Bank, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Police, NNPC, NSCDC, NDDC, various state governments, the Office of the National Security Adviser, Federal Ministry of Finance, Committee of Vice Chancellors of federal universities, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The FCTA reiterated that the revocation is part of efforts to enforce compliance with land payment obligations and ensure proper administration of properties within the Federal Capital Territory.
