A gospel singer and the winner of the recently concluded Gospel Groove Talent Quest 2023, Esther Olabisi, aka Labisi, has said that the show has impacted her career positively.
In a statement sent to Saturday Beats, she said, “GGTQ was a grooming land for me. My experience in the house (competition) would stay with me for life. It has built my career effortlessly and taken it to the next level. It also brushed up my indigenous gospel music style.”
Speaking on her debut single, ‘Yahweh’, which was released recently, Labisi described her style of music as ‘culturalistic and local’ due to her indigenous background. She added that it was a blend of soulful folklore and fuji.
She said, “The new single is deeply rooted in Christian theology, with an underlying theme of help and salvation through God’s grace. The opening verse sets the tone for a soulful worship. The song is a heartfelt acknowledgement of the saving power of God.”
She added that she would release her Extended Play album in November.
Upon winning GGTQ, the singer was signed to EeZee Conceptz for a three-year deal, in addition to other prizes.
