A yet-to-be-identified woman was injured on Monday in a lone accident involving a mini commercial bus in the Igando area of Lagos State.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Damilola Oke-Osanyitolu, in a statement obtained by PUNCH Metro, disclosed that the incident happened on Monday morning.

He stated that the incident occurred as a result of recklessness on the part of the driver, which caused him to swerve and crash into a building.

According to him, the LASEMA team thereafter activated its response plans, leading to the rescue of the injured passenger.

The statement read, “Following distress calls received via the CRM on the 767/112 Emergency Toll-Free Lines at 0713hrs, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans and Response Team from Igando.

“Upon arrival at 0721hrs, LASEMA Dolphin Response Team discovered an incident scene where a minibus, registration number LSD 474YA had experienced a lone accident at the aforementioned location. Preliminary investigations conducted at the scene revealed that the cause of the accident was as a result of recklessness on the part of the driver which led to the mini-bus swerving off the road and crashing into a building. No casualties were recorded as a result of the incident.  An adult woman sustained minor injuries from the accident and was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.”

The LASEMA boss further stated that the agency’s light tow truck was engaged for the recovery of the minibus off the road.’

He added that appropriate safety measures were activated by the agency’s Response Team who were the only responders at the scene of the incident, while traffic control measures were also activated during the recovery process.
