A Nigerian-born singer and songwriter, Yemi Laja, has shared some insights into how her experience in difficult times inspired her to write a song to reassure her fans that everything would be okay, if they showed gratitude and had faith.
In a statement sent to Saturday Beats, she said, “The song was inspired by a daunting situation, which was resolved through an experience of God’s provision during my Master’s programme at Durham University, United Kingdom. I released the song titled, ‘Everything I’ve Needed’ to encourage fans who need reassurance. Providence from God should never taken lightly, because it is a miracle.”
The music artiste added that the song, which she describes as ‘gospel amapiano’, is a means of conveying her good news and miraculous experience to the audience in order to make them rejoice.
She said, “I considered conveying my good news and miraculous experience to my audience, and I believe that it would spark a break-out of rejoicing. I felt good, and decided to share the ‘vibe’.
“The song conveys the reality of lack, and experiencing the awe-inspiring hand of God in tough situations.”
Beyond her music career, Laja also finds fulfillment in expressing her creativity through stage acting and filmmaking. Her performances have taken her to various stages in London, Dublin, and Nigeria, including sharing the stage with top Nigerian gospel artists like Tope Alabi.
Speaking on the reception the song has enjoyed, Laja stated that the enthusiasm and excitement that attended her recent performance at the Celebration Place, Phoenix Fitness Centre in London, was a testament to how the song resonates with many.
