In a showcase of innovation and creativity, the 2024 Greening Lagos project has unveiled a remarkable array of projects designed to tackle pressing societal issues. Held at the University of Lagos, the event attracted young visionaries from across the nation, each eager to present their unique solutions to challenges such as climate change, education inequality, and healthcare access.
The competition featured over 100 entries, with participants ranging from university students to recent graduates. The winners were unveiled on Thursday, November 21, 2024 by project owner, Kudzayi Hove and the coordinator, Miriam Adenuga at the presentation of cash rewards to them.
Speaking on why this initiative focused on Children, Hove noted that children were involved in the initiative to help them understand the importance of a greener environment at a young age, stating, “We are talking about sustainability, the idea is for things to live beyond our generation to the next generation.”
Some of the winners of the competition included, Daniel Anyanonu, who won in the 16-18 years category while Nicole Rapu and Emmanuel Chiemeka won in the 13-15 years and 10-12 years categories respectively.
