David CameronBritish Prime Minister David Cameron said he was «appalled» by the Ottawa shootings and offered his full support to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Wednesday.

“I’m appalled by today’s attack in Ottawa. I offer my full support to [Prime Minister Stephen Harper] and the Canadian people as they deal with this incident,” Cameron wrote on his Twitter.
A soldier who was standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa was shot by an unidentified gunman Wednesday morning. Shortly after, shots were fired at the Canadian Parliament.
Later on Wednesday, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed the soldier’s death. A suspected attacker has been shot and killed, police said, however, it could not confirm whether this was the same suspect who fatally shot the soldier. It is also not clear if there was more than one attacker involved in the shootings.
The incidents came just two days after a member of the Canadian Armed Forces was killed in a car attack in the city of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in Quebec.
