Organisers of the H2:14 Global Missions have said extracurricular activities assist learners to develop physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually.
A statement by the organisers, led by Reverend Dotun Arifalo, noted that it had a project with the aim of equipping the pupils with leadership and life skills through the arts.
He said, “The H2:14 Global Missions, a faith-based organisation is planning to empower one million public school pupils through its Music, Art, Dance and Empowerment, initiative by 2030.”
He added that the first 85 beneficiaries drawn from public secondary schools across Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos State would feature in a concert, titled, ‘The Next Hero concert,’ to be held on Saturday at the University of Lagos.
It added that nollywood actor-turned-lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, would join the Special Adviser on Housing, Lagos State, Barakat Oduniga-Bakare; All Progressive Congress aspirant for Surulere Federal Constituency one in the House of Representatives, Fuad Laguda, and Chairman, Surulere Local Government Area, Suleiman Yusuf, to watch the pupils perform various types of music.
The participants were trained for one year under the Music, Art, Dance and Empowerment, initiative of H2:14 Global Missions.
It added, “The concert will feature solo and group dance performances, a band performance playing original music, and an orchestra performance.
“Though not a competitive event, outstanding participants will be rewarded with scholarship awards donated by sponsors to specialised schools to hone their skills.”
