Heirs Technologies, a subsidiary of Heirs Holdings owned by billionaire businessman Tony Elumelu, has announced a series of initiatives aimed at empowering local talents to drive innovation within the tech industry.
Gathering key executives for a media event in Lagos, recently, Heirs Technologies showcased its ambitious plans to revolutionise the tech landscape.
The firm’s Managing Director, Obong Idiong, noted that its people-centric approach underscored its commitment to fostering innovation at the grassroots level.
“We are not content with merely replicating existing offerings; our aim is to revolutionise the industry and empower local talent to thrive,” affirmed Idiong, highlighting the company’s visionary stance on technology innovation.
In tandem with that initiative, he disclosed that Heirs Technologies had also introduced the i-Academy programme, a bold endeavour geared towards nurturing young tech enthusiasts in Nigeria.
According to Idiong, this comprehensive six-month programme will equip students with the requisite tools and training to embark on successful careers in the tech sector, ensuring they remain competitive in an ever-evolving industry.
He said the company aimed to scale up the i-Academy programme this year, accommodating 100 interns—a substantial increase from previous years.
By widening access to the programme, the company sought to amplify its impact on Nigeria’s burgeoning tech ecosystem, Idiong asserted.
“The i-Academy curriculum will employ a hybrid learning approach, blending online instruction with hands-on training sessions, ensuring participants receive a well-rounded education encompassing both technical skills and soft skills essential for success in the tech sphere,” he noted.
He explained that a standout feature of the i-Academy programme was its emphasis on practical learning and real-world projects.
He added that participants would engage in software development projects, tackling authentic challenges to deepen their understanding of the development process and hone their skills.
Other key executives who were present at the event were the Chief Strategy Officer of Heirs Technologies, Antoinette Edodo; the Chairperson of its Board of Directors, Fumbi Chima, and Executive Director, Anant Rao.
